The elaborate set built around the park’s pavilion was designed to look like Camelot castle, replete with towers, a gatehouse, and drawbridges over the orchestra pit “moat”. An estimated 8,000 people attended the production of Camelot on Tuesday night alone. Many brought picnic fare and enjoyed the opera from the ground.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Practice by the 1970 Westernaires pony team. That's Angel on the far left, and Devil Child behind (on the rail) -- both offspring of the original Shetland pony herd that once roamed free on South Table Mountain. Judy (Hudgins) Kinyon, about her photo: "1970 Pony Team. 1st pair on the rail is Angel. My sister (JoAnne Hudgins) trained him, and the 2nd pair on the rail is Devil Child, I trained her. They were 2-year-olds, and had never been touched when we asked permission from Mr. Wyland to train them. Our first show was lunging them over the liberty jumps, having them stand on boxes with heads bowed etc. Such a small beginning to what it is now."</image:caption>

The "Little Wheels" drove ponies in front of their two-wheeled carts. Pony Roman riders (dressed in lederhosen) rode in roman-style, standing on two ponies. In 1974's "Horsecapades" Annual Show, all three pony groups were shown together in the act called "Pony Galaxy".</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Westernaires convoy heads southbound across the Canadian/U.S. border and into Montana, March of 1986. Border agents (who were likely unaccustomed to seeing dozens of teenagers and their horses crossing the border) decided to be a bit difficult and required that every horse be unloaded from the horse vans. Satisfied after their inspection, the horses were quickly reloaded. The border agents were reportedly “amazed" at the organization and ease by which the Westernaires could load their horses onto the semis.</image:caption>

The old Red Arena's north-facing wall was the only thing remaining in this picture -- taken during Spring / Summer of 1986. Volunteers organized and removed the old steel, while the new steel structural beams were unloaded after transporting them from Independence, Missouri. In this picture: Woody Ellis is on the tractor (blue jacket), while Bruce Slaugh drives on the forklift (plaid shirt). Stu Rydgren (white jacket), Ron Kronauge (red jacket), and Glen Rowell (brown jacket) are on the flatbed.</image:caption>
